Was Anakin Skywalker Palpatine brooding majestically as the wind caught his hair? Did things get weird in Fandom in December? Of course he was.

He hadn't slept since his confrontation with his father-who-wasn't his father, somehow, but everyone had walked away with all of their limbs intact which was, frankly, kind of an outlier in terms of fraught emotional conversations in his family.

He was turning the information over in his mind, trying to figure out how to make sense of it.

Kylo Ren was not having a good time here, mostly due to the Rey that clearly wasn't his Rey, and it had left him all rage-filled and wanting to brood.

And slowed to a stop when he saw the figure right where he intended to do said brooding.

"This space is taken," Anakin told him.

He was using the whole area to brood, okay. ALL OF IT.

He was pretty sure his angst took up more space! For made up reasons!

"Grandfather?"

Though that was a reason.

"I'm sorry?" Anakin stammered.

[vaderfanboy]

"I'm your grandson," he said, almost smiling. Broodily. "I've always wanted to meet you."

"You have?" Anakin repeated.

[vaderfanboy]

"Of course. You're a legend."

For terrible reasons that he admired!

"Which part?" Anakin asked carefully.

[vaderfanboy]

"All of it. The greatest Jedi ever, who became the most powerful force the galaxy has ever known."

Normal things.

Anakin smiled a little arrogantly. "I like that description."

[vaderfanboy]

"You strike fear into the hearts of all your enemies," he went on. "You're my idol."

[sith_happened]

Anakin's chin rose and he smiled. "Well, if they've become my enemies, they deserve to be afraid."

[vaderfanboy]

"Exactly!" Kylo said, a little too emphatically. "Some people deserve to be crushed."

Ooooh, would we say crushed?

"What sort of people?" Anakin asked.

[vaderfanboy]

"Anyone who upsets me."

Sometimes all they had to do was be standing there.

"That seems like it could be a broad category," Anakin said.

Including whoever gave him that beanie. Yikes.

"Sometimes," he agreed.

[sith_happened]

"Who's son are you supposed to be anyway?" Anakin asked.

[vaderfanboy]

"Your daughter. Leia Organa."

THE ONLY GOOD ONE.

"And she lets you have that beard."

[vaderfanboy]

"No one lets me do anything," Kylo scoffed. "And I don't want to talk about it."

So touchy! How very unlike Anakin, who was incredibly stable.

"What do you want to talk about?" Anakin asked.

[vaderfanboy]

"What's it like? Never having to answer to anyone? Vanquishing anyone who stands in your way?" If he was being honest, he always felt like he had a way to go.

"I wouldn't say I never answered to anyone," Anakin said.

[vaderfanboy]

"No, everyone answered to you. You're the authority." Kylo knew better, of course.

[sith_happened]

Anakin preened just a little. "Well, that's mostly true, yes."

[vaderfanboy]

"It's completely true and you know it." Weird to use that tactic here but okay. "This is an honor."

[sith_happened]

Anakin would NEVER EVER admit to how much he was enjoying this. "Well, it's nice to meet you, too--"

There was the briefest moments where he debated which name to give. Then he decided he didn't really want to be embarrassed by the Solo name right now. "Kylo Ren."

There was zero percent chance that Leia had named her kid that, but Anakin knew that drama came easily in their family.

"I like it."
