Anakin had some meetings to attend himself to check up on Nina as he'd promised, but for the rest of the day he was behind his desk with a carefully horded mug of caf from a galaxy far, far, away. His office was as welcoming as he could make it without making people, well, want to stay forever: forgettable instrumental music, cookies from JGOB, and a couple of chairs across from him that were only slightly tippy.

The Dean of Students was here. Come ask about your students!

"Bus Deaaaaaan!"

You know, Prompto may be bummed out that Nina didn't have more classes for his to pester more teachers, but he had to admit, the ones he did get to pester?Primo!

So he came bouncing into the office after knocking on the door frame, Noctis bemused as he followed in his wake, popping down into one of the chairs, which of course tipped enough to elicit a "whoa!" out of him before he said, "How's it going?"

"Well," Anakin said dryly. "Hello, Prompto."

"Bus Dean," said Prompto, gesturing to the other young man with him, almost like a photo negative of darkness to Prompto's brightness, as he sat down in another chair, "this is Noctis, and the two of us are here, of course, to check in on how our dear sweet Nina has been doing in her academic pursuits."

Anakin laughed. "How many people are here to check up on Nina's academic pursuits?" he wondered. "I am doing the same thing."

"No kidding?" asked Prompto with a laugh back. "Oh, man, that? Is great. That's at least three of is, then. Me. You. Noctis here..."

Hey, it wasn't every citizen who got their crown prince to check in on them as a fake dad!

"Summer will eventually mentioned Ignis emailing her, too, didn't she?" Noctis offered up thoughtfully. "So that maybe counts as a half."

Prompto couldn't NOT snicker at the idea of Ignis as half-a-dad.

Anakin laughed. "Well, she deserves to have everyone watching out for her well-being."

"That she does!" agreed Prompto, with his best hearty dad chuckle and a fatherly pump of his fist. His Dad Voice was also noticeably lower than his regular voice, and Noctis looked like he might not be able hold it together through it.

"Now," said Prompto
, "let's get down to brass tacks, Skywalker. How is the little chocobo doing? It's Ethics again for you this semester, isn't it?"

And there was Liam, accompanied by an exceptionally-well-dressed blonde who was not his wife but definitely looked amused to be here.

"Skywalker," he greeted with a nod.

"Kincaid-Price," Anakin replied. "Who are you here to check up on?"

He had an idea.

Renee grinned and shook her head at the last name. She'd had nine months to get used to it and it was still kind of a trip. To be fair, in all the time she'd known Liam pre-Fandom, he'd never once been on a date, and now he was married.

"I'm here to see how Nina's doing," Liam said solemnly. "Nina Argentum." The last name was completely unnecessary, since the only other Nina in town was the mayor's assistant, most definitely not a student, but it made things sound properly Serious Business.

Which, okay, they kind of were, because he genuinely was concerned about Nina, if he were being entirely honest, and Anakin was probably the other adult around here with a good pulse on what was going on with her.

"Well, she's only been to a couple of classes," Anakin said, "but she engages well with the subject matter."

“She’s missed classes?” Liam asked, frowning. “Since she got back?”

"A few," Anakin confirmed, "but not enough for me to really worry."

[firstofitskind]

"Hm." That frown didn't really go anywhere, even as Anakin admitted he wasn't terribly worried about it. "I hope that's not a trend that's going to continue."

[jiang_yanli]

She tentatively knocks on the door. "H-hello?" Jiang Yanli says against the wood. "I'm here to ask about my brother Wei Wuxian?"

She doesn't know how they speak about him here, what their honorifics are, so she says his name.

Anakin smiled. "Hello! I don't think he realized he had people coming this weekend. Welcome."

[jiang_yanli]

Jiang Yangli bows politely, he seems like a master after all. “I surprised him.” She smiles brightly. “It is hard to be without family on important days. I am his sister Jiang Yangli. Wei Wuxan has been dealing me about his classes. He is wildly clever.”

Anakin smiled. "He has a unique and interesting perspective in my Ethics class."

After reluctantly graciously letting Bow and Glimmer steal spend some two on one time with Adora, Catra decided she really needed to get to the bottom of this place.

Which is why Anakin now had a judgey catgirl glaring at him.

"May I help you?" Anakin asked.

Boy, was Catra regretting that it was hard to make herself look bigger when her hair was this short. Still, she could handle it, she just had to play it cool and smooth.

"Your stupid island stole my best friend."

Smooth, Catra.

Anakin blinked. "I'm sorry, but I'm not actually in charge of how people get here. Who's your best friend?"

From the look she shot him, Catra clearly didn't believe him. "Adora," she said. "She's my... she's mine."

"Ah," Anakin said, nodding. "Well, she's doing okay in my class, if that helps you at all."

"No." Beat. "Yes. Maybe. What is your stupid class, anyway."
