When Anakin had become part of the school administration approximately a hundred-billion years ago, he hadn't realized there would be quite so much paperwork involved.

Or that there even was a form called "Murderous Clown After-Action Report."

But here he was, filling it out. Someone please save him from it?

Sometime in the afternoon, Rey stopped by. She wasn't even entirely sure why. Because she had a feeling and figured she should? Because she should probably tell Leia about him?

Whatever the reason, she was knocking.

"Come in, Rey," Anakin called.

He enjoyed getting to be a pseudo-spooky Jedi sometimes.

She could do that and she still wasn't used to hearing it.

"Are you busy?" she asked, stepping inside.

"Not with anything I'm not eager to avoid," Anakin said, pushing aside the paperwork with glee. "What can I help you with?"

She probably should have an answer to that, huh?

"I'm going to be headed home for a little while. Or, head to base. Whatever," she said. "Thought I would check in."on

Anakin nodded. "How long do you think you'll be gone?" he asked.

So he knew when to start worrying.

"I think about a week?" Rey answered. "I have a weekly thing I want to make it back for if nothing big is going on, but I'm not sure how the time difference affects portals yet."

"Don't ask my granddaughter about the portals," Anakin said with a wry smile. "It cut her off for a while."

"That was why I could t get home for years," Rey admitted. "I try not to think about that too much."

Either way it'd cause anxiety.

"Since worrying doesn't fix it one way or the other," Anakin agreed, nodding, "best not to dwell."

That was very Obi-Wan of him.

"Mostly I figured I'd just drive myself crazy," Rey admitted, a touch sheepishly.

Anakin laughed. "That too. I've heard you've been doing yoga, though. Getting better at centering yourself?"

[thatwaslucky]

"Maybe?" She was. It didn't always feel like it, though. "It sounds a lot like what Kanan's been showing me, so I've been kind of filling in some pieces with it."

"Goooooooooooooooooood moooooooooorning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina chirped, poking her head around his door and, like, mostly-ish-almost sure of her welcome.

"You. Less caffeine," Anakin said, only half meaning it. "Come in."

She giggled, slipping into the office.

"Can I really have less than zero???????????????" she wondered as she primly took a seat. "I haven't had any sugar either.............."

Nina was just like this (almost) naturally!

"Then just...be less cheerful," Anakin said. "...and saying that out loud makes me sound like a terrible person."

At least you noticed that, Anakin! Good job!

"How has your week been?"

It was... a step in the right direction, at least?

"You'd be very weirded out if I wasn't cheerful though," she protested, smiling at him. "At least, I think so?????????????????"

"Well, yes," Anakin said. "It's just so very cheerful and I already have Rory and her mother and all of their caffeine-assisted wall of noise. I come here to hide."

Not true.

"And pretend to help students."

Kind of true?

Nina opened her mouth to say something about how maybe, just maybe he'd surrounded himself by a wall of cheerful because he adored it, but decided not to because, well, he was still her teacher.

Even if he was the best teacher.

"You're a big help," she assured him. "But, like, I won't tell anyone????????????????"

Too bad, Bus Dean, that anyone who talked to her about teachers got an earful about how wonderful she thought you were!

"I appreciate it," Anakin said because he was still under the impression that most of the students avoided him because they didn't remotely like him.

She grinned at him.

"Are you, like, busy???????????????????" she wondered, with a slightly anxious sort of fidget.

Because she could go if he was!

"I have to fill out paperwork about killing clowns in self-defense," Anakin said, making a face. "Please. I am not busy."

"There's paperwork about self-defense killings?!?!??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sorry, she got side-tracked.

"Only for staff, I think," Anakin said, holding it up. "They want to make sure we're not out killing people for fun or something."
