Anakin came into his office to find everything in order, except for a small, innoculous looking box over in the corner with an "ARM/DISARM" switch.

He snorted, then pulled his comlink from his robes and checked to see what weird Earth holidays were celebrated on September 15. "National Linguine Day!" he said triumphantly, glaring at the box. "If you think I'm pressing 'fire', you're crazy."

Of course, he was talking to an inanimate object, so...

Anakin's door was open! Mind the box.

Aphra was well aware that randomly pushing buttons on mysterious boxes that only needed 'BOMB' written on the side in bright red letters to be more obvious what they were was a terrible idea.

Aphra was also curious to a fault and sometimes had trouble not doing the stupid thing.

Which was why she was pushing the box she'd found in front of the nearest open door with a long stick. SCIENCE!

"I'm not opening that either," Anakin said, glancing up from his paperwork.

Anakin did remember who he was talking to, right?

Undeterred by Anakin refusing to oblige her and do the dumb thing, Aphra used her long stuck to start poking at the 'ARM' button.

"Don't do that!" Anakin said, diving behind his desk.

Too late. Twisted almost all the way around the corner, Aphra managed to hit the 'FIRE' switch with her stuck.

There was an ominous click.

And then Anakin's office was full of tiny, stupid felt hats.

It was also National Felt Hat Day, apparently.

"I hate you," he said from behind his desk.

And he did even know about her attempting to deliver the kid to Vader!

"Pretty sure you're not supposed to," she said poking at a tiny hat.

"I can feel the emotion without acting on it," Anakin muttered, coming out from behind the desk and irritably flicking a half-dozen hats out of his way with the Force.

"Very dangerous, leads to 'urk'." Ahead up a hand and made a squeezing gesture. "Trust me, I know Sith."

She'd met a whole two of them a lived to tell the tale! Sure it was by faking her death, but details.

Anakin was being Very Smooth about that bit of information because it wouldn't be smart to go, "Oh, now I remember you. Thought you were dead!"

"And you're still alive?" he said. "That can't happen often--knowing a Sith and walking away from it."

SO SMOOTH.

He was helped by the fact Aphra's sub-conscious survival instinct was working overtime to not make certain leaps of logic.

"What can I say, it takes skill."

Or being willing to get yourself thrown out an airlock and hoping your Wookiee creditor was just that intent on getting you to pay up.

That was a pretty big ask, which was probably why it had never occurred to Anakin.

"And even with that skill, you still insist on poking buttons that shouldn't be poked," he said. "Not a combination to a long life."

Those kind of failed spot checks was why Bail Organa kept beating him for the Best Space Dad award.

"I was behind a safety wall!"

That was just a wall, Aphra.

"That's just a regular wall," Anakin said.

"I didn't get hit by hats."

Anakin used the Force to bean her with a few--or at least attempted to.

"Yet," he said.

"Doesn't count," Aphra said after being hit by hats. "I wasn't behind the safety wall then."

"Still just an ordinary wall," Anakin said, brushing the hats from his chair and sitting back down.
