Office Hours [all day Thursday]

There was muffled cursing behind the absolutely ridiculous numbers of bags, cartons, and steamer trunks that blocked Anakin's office door.

And filled most of his office.

And his desk.

And his chair.

"Sithspit!"

...and landed on his head.

Turned out that Anakin had a lot of baggage. Who knew? (Other than everyone.)

Obi-Wan had absolutely no interest in speaking about this whatsoever.

Which was why he wasn't going anywhere near Anakin's office today.

The enormous duffel labeled Anakin Skywalker smashed into the blockage in front of Anakin's door, then stayed there.

"You need me to blast my way through here?" Atton yelled.

His own baggage was stacking up in the hallway.

"If you want to come in, probably," Anakin yelled back.

"You've got to be more constructive about your baggage!" Atton shot back.

He picked up a random suitcase and tossed it aside.

"This is constructive," Anakin said. "They're all in one place and not squashing teenagers."

"You're probably going to suffocate any minute," Atton said, picking up another and tossing that one aside, too. And then-- "Why do you have a bag with your own name on it? Space, never mind, you karking narcissist."

"That's not mine," Anakin said, frowning at it. "The Snips one is, but not that one."

"One, who's Snips," Atton said. He held up the duffel. "Two, do I wanna know whose this is?"

"Snips was my apprentice," Anakin said, looking at the duffel, "and that bag could belong to almost anyone on campus, really. Most have an opinion about me..."

"Seems like a pretty big opinion," Atton said. But then he cast the thing aside, because he only cared that much. "Somebody let you have an apprentice?"

Anakin let out a small, rueful laugh. "That's what Padme said, too. I have...regrets...on how that turned out."

"Couldn't tell by the baggage."

Two more bags, and finally, the pathway was free.

"This is less baggage than previous years," Anakin said. "Kind of sad, huh?"

"I don't think mine is less," Atton commented. He glanced over his shoulder and observed a whole pletora of murderer and Revan and Meetra and I don't know who I am and Happy living with a teenager-- and shrugged. "But I care less about it."

Anakin nearly got clobbered by a hard-sided suitcase labeled "OBI-WAN" that looked remarkably like the "Anakin Skywalker" one from earlier and frowned at it. "Okay, that one's gotten bigger, but that's not entirely my fault."

"Uh-huh," Atton said, raising his eyebrows.

"I know two Obi-Wans," Anakin said. "That's twice the issues. Shut up."

Atton took a moment to think that over. "Isn't one of them dead?"

"Well, yes, but I had something to do with that," Anakin admitted.

"Of course you did," Atton said, wading in between the luggage.

"I haven't exactly mentioned that to this version," Anakin said.

Atton sighed. "What did you do, exactly?"

"...not mentioned it at all?"

Stop hedging, Anakin.

Atton rolled his eyes.

"I'm not going to crowbar this out of you," he said, "But you're babbling and hedging like you need to talk."

Anakin made an unhappy noise. "Fine. I was a Sith. I had a lightsaber...you know how it goes."

Atton stared for a second.

"Wow, you didn't do things halfway, did you?"

Anakin gestured around the room, finally finding the "horrible human" bag and pointing to it. "Nope."

Atton gave it a glance. "To quote a really messed-up old lady, you know if he's still a proper Jedi, he'll forgive you."

"Oh, I'm sure he would," Anakin said. "But I don't deserve it, so I'm not going to give him the option."

"I'd argue with that, but I'm not really in any place to do that," Atton said, ignoring the Pathological liar bag that immediately materialized.

Anakin glanced at the new bag and pursed his lips slightly. "He's forgiven too much as it is," he added.

"So there's a big guilt bag in here somewhere too, I take it," Atton said.

"Two trunks and that thing blocking the door," Anakin said. "It's broken up by decades."

Atton shrugged, pointing at a bunch of bags reading Survivor's guilt, Deserter's guilt and Misc. Murder.

Anakin nodded, looking sympathetic, as two giant rolling bags labeled Luke and Leia crashed from the ceiling.

Atton noticed.

"I am so glad I never had kids."

"Well, I didn't know about Luke and Leia for a few decades," Anakin said. "Obi-Wan hid them from me. Can't really blame him for it..."

"Especially not with the you trying to murder him and everything," Atton agreed.

"Maybe his version won't succeed," Anakin said.

Way to kind of think positive, Anakin.

"That thing's probably going down the same way unless somebody who knows about it gets involved," Atton said.

"So me telling him or finding me, and that never ends well," Anakin said. "Well, it's decades away, in any case."
