Office hours [all day]

With class now on Thursday, Anakin felt like his whole week was a little out of whack. He arrived in the office after dropping Juliet off at preschool, looked around and realized his office was a complete disaster.

"Kriffing gremlins," he growled under his breath, starting to straighten up using the Force.

It worked for the kids' toys in the evening, it'd work for this.

Jaina hadn't seen Anakin since before she'd left for break, so when she got a chance she stopped by the offices just to see if he was around. As luck would have it...

"What happened here?" she asked from the doorway.

"Gremlins," Anakin said, "or students with a death wish."

[solo_sword]

"Gremlins with a death wish," Jaina said. "I caught one in my office yesterday."

[sith_happened]

"What'd you do to it?" Anakin asked.

[solo_sword]

"It got away before I could get to it," she frowned. "I should set traps."

[sith_happened]

"Couldn't hurt," Anakin said, waving his hand and setting his bookcase upright again. "Might stop the next time you'd accidentally end up dancing at Caritas."

Jaina shuddered.

"I mean, I know where they live. You'd think they'd be more careful," she said.

[sith_happened]

"I don't think they have a sense of self-preservation," said the Skywalker.

[solo_sword]

"They should. I'm pretty sure they die by getting kicked." And she was okay with kicking gremlins.

[sith_happened]

"Want to find out this weekend?" Anakin asked.

[solo_sword]

"...What are you thinking?"

The girl Skywalkers got the brains, therefore Jaina wanted to know what she was possibly getting into first.

"You show me where they live, and I kick some of them."

No way this plan could go wrong!

Let's all be glad someone here was rocking the double X chromosomes.

"That is a horrible plan," she told him.

[sith_happened]

"Well, maybe, but look at the mess they made!" Anakin whined.

[solo_sword]

"Is it worth seeing how much gremlin venom the human body can withstand?" Logic.

[sith_happened]

"Is it going to be tested on my human body?"

Nice, Anakin.

[solo_sword]

"Grandfather."

That was the tone Han got all the time.

"I'm the Dean of Students," Anakin said. "I'm sure I can find a volunteer..."

[solo_sword]

"You're supposed to be using your powers for good," she pointed out.

[sith_happened]

"I could frame it as an ethical dilemma?" Anakin offered.

[solo_sword]

"Well, it is that..."

Not the students' though...

"We could use one of the really annoying ones?"

Anakin almost missed Maddrox.

[solo_sword]

"That's not helping anything," Jaina told him.

[sith_happened]

"Serves as a warning?" Anakin said. "Not so long ago, people served detention by hanging off of a wall. These students have it too easy."

[solo_sword]

"Did they have to walk two miles uphill in the snow to get there?"

The hanging off a wall thing she totally believed, by the way.

[sith_happened]

"Barefoot" Anakin agreed. "Good times."

[solo_sword]

"Who was hanging people off a wall?"

Besides Anakin himself but as far as he knew, that was just her dad, and just during class.

"Kerrigan," Anakin said. "It was an interesting exercise."

[solo_sword]

"I'm immediately not sorry I missed that one," she said. "I think I'd rather being a newt for five seconds."

[sith_happened]

"Umbridge?" Anakin guessed.

[solo_sword]

"Harriet Jones," she said. "I got a stupid trick question wrong on a quest."

They'd asked for her name, she gave her damn name.

"So they turned you into a newt," Anakin said in a "of course they did" tone.

[solo_sword]

She nodded. "I got better."

[sith_happened]

Anakin snorted. "I'm pretty sure that if you were still a newt, I would have noticed."

[solo_sword]

"I'd hope so," Jaina said dryly, but smiled. "So outside of gremlin delinquency, how've you been?"

[sith_happened]

"Good," Anakin said, gesturing Jaina into a chair as he sat behind his desk. "My children have far too many plastic toys that beep and whir now that have no kriffing volume control, but I can deal with that."

[solo_sword]

"Because you know they'll get bored with them soon enough?" Jaina guessed, sitting.

[sith_happened]

"Exactly," Anakin said with a little grin. "And if they leave it out, I take it away. Mwahaha."

[solo_sword]

"The mwahaha worries me," Jaina said, shaking her head.

[sith_happened]

"Too much?" Anakin asked.

[solo_sword]

"I'd leave it out when you're telling the kids to put away their toys at home," she advised.

[sith_happened]

"They'll respect me without it?" Anakin checked.

[solo_sword]

"Without the mwahaha? I'd hope so," she said. "Evil laughs aren't really there for respect, anyway."

[sith_happened]

"True," Anakin said. "Palpatine's cackle was just creepy."

[solo_sword]

"I'm just gonna be glad I never got to hear it," Jaina admitted.

[sith_happened]

"You didn't miss out at all," Anakin assured her.

[solo_sword]

"Aunt Mara used to say the same thing. It's probably the only time you two every agreed on anything, but I take it to mean I should believe it," Jaina said.

Anakin made a little face but couldn't really disagree. "You should."
