Sending Chris back through the portal was more difficult than Anakin had thought it would be, and not just because Juliet was poking Rory in the stomach and demanding that her big brother come back. Anakin had enjoyed getting a glimpse of a potential future: even if his son had been very fifteen, with the eyerolling and the thinking his parents were lame, he'd had a good head on his shoulders.

Anakin was giving all of the credit for that to Rory.

He was in his office now beginning to come up with questions for his final exam, only a few weeks away now, and very specifically not dwelling on the situation with Leia.

The door was open.

"Served you right for sleeping with Obi-Wan," Anakin replied.

"Hey, I already got a kid from that and I didn't even get to have any of the fun," she pointed out.

"Who says it would have been fun?" asked jealous, jealous Anakin.

"...Me?" she said. It was Obi-wan, hello, and years of crushing had given her Expectations.

"Hmph," Anakin retorted usefully.

"Hey, it's not like I ever even made out with him." Oh yes, she totally remembered that Coruscant trip and the drinking.

Anakin hadn't blushed this hard in years.

"I can't believe you still remember that."

[fates_jaye]

"You don't forget what you did on another planet."

This was a total lie. She thought she might have whined her way out of flying and something with a banthabell but couldn't tell you for sure.

Anakin snorted. "I barely remember that night. I blame the drinks, and it being a million years ago."

[fates_jaye]

"Let's be a little more accurate," Jaye said. "Because I had a kid telling me about how I'm old all weekend so let's not talk about high school being a million years ago."

"Yeah, I had that too," Anakin said, "and now Juliet is really confused."

"She's not used to alternate universe siblings by now?" Jaye sort of just assumed it had happened before, because... Fandom.

[sith_happened]

"Not when we've been preparing her for a little brother," Anakin replied, "and she got one who was pushing six feet tall."

"Well, if by some chance she ends up in therapy you can point to that moment and say "yep, that's what did it,'" she reasoned.

Anakin snickered. "Think I should call Zoe and Deadpool and see if we can score a group rate for the inevitable psych bills?"

[fates_jaye]

"Why not? I'm amazed shrinks aren't flocking to this place, by the way. It'd be like a gold mine." Though Jaye had her own shrink back home, thank you.

"They come and go," Anakin said. "I think we scare them off."

[fates_jaye]

"Let's put that in a brochure," she said immediately.

[sith_happened]

"Dare you to survive a semester?" Anakin offered, then grinned. "Could work."

[fates_jaye]

"Watch, this is how I spend my Friday."

It would totally be how she spent her Friday.

"While singing?" Anakin added.

[fates_jaye]

She glared. "If I'm still singing this on Friday, I'm tracking you down and beating you with something."

Anakin smirked at her. "Like you could hit me."

[fates_jaye]

"I so could." Maybe if he'd gone blind and wasn't paying attention.

[sith_happened]

"Couldn't," Anakin countered. Extended exposure to a toddler wasn't doing good things for his maturity.

"Could too." Let's not pretend Jaye was mature even without that influence.

"Not."

[fates_jaye]

"Too."

[sith_happened]

"Nope," replied the Dean of Students, Anakin.

[fates_jaye]

"Look," Jaye said, "we can keep up with this forever, so let's just speed things up and say that I'm right."

"Nuh-uh."

At least they were now arguing about a slightly different thing?

"Uh huh."

How were they authority figures of any kind?

[sith_happened]

No idea. None.

"You've become a secret ninja since you left Fandom?"

[fates_jaye]

"I'd be a sucky secret ninja if I said yes to that," she pointed out.

[sith_happened]

"Pretty sure you'd just be a sucky ninja," Anakin replied.

[fates_jaye]

"Hey, I would be a great ninja," Jaye lied.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "How so?"

[fates_jaye]

"You don't just ask someone how they'd be a great ninja," Jaye complained. "You just accept it as fact."
