Office hours [all day]

Anakin was humming happily to himself as he typed away on his computer. He'd finally gotten a call through to Luke, assured the man that yes, Admiral Ackbar existed (and really, who could forget a Mol Cal admiral?), and so far no one of the droid babies seemed to have been electrocuted.

It didn't take much to put him in good mood these days.

Of course, he'd also not heard of his role in a certain puppet show yesterday, so...

The door was open!

A rather uncomfortable-looking Toby with an armful of droid-baby poked his head in through the doorway.

"You said to let you know if I needed anything?" he started off.

"I did," Anakin agreed, glancing up. "Come in. Would you like the door closed or open?"

"Closed would be good," Toby said, stepping inside.

Anakin held his hand out and concentrated and the door swung closed silently. "There," he said. "Now how can I help you?"

"It's this assignment," Toby tilted his head to indicate the droid baby. "It's bringing up some things for me, memories I didn't even know I had, and I guess I'm just- not sure what to do about them."

Anakin looked sympathetic. "Unhappy childhood?" he replied, holding his hands out for the baby.

Toby handed it over, doing his best to hide the relief at being able to do so, even temporarily.

"What I can remember of it, yeah," Toby admitted. "Most of it's a blank, really." And he knew enough to know that wasn't normal.

Anakin gave him a quick smile, then turned the droid off entirely. "One of the perks of being the teacher," he said. "Your memories are a blank?"

Toby nodded, pacing across the office as he spoke. "Up until a few months ago, all I knew was there was a fire when I was five or six. But since coming to Fandom, little things have been popping up. Like- I had a baby brother. And I don't think Toby's my real name."

Anakin frowned hard. "Do you think you blocked the memories yourself or...had help?"

That stopped Toby cold. "People can do that?" he asked, eyes wide. Toby, you were a telepath and you've been living in Fandom for almost half a year. Why were you so surprised?

"People can do that," Anakin replied, nodding.

Toby let out a long breath. "In that case, I don't know. I mean, I pretty much thought I was the only telepath out there till I came to Fandom."

"You might be," Anakin said, "but I think the odds of that being true might be a bit steep. You're starting to remember a baby brother?"

Toby nodded. "I think something bad might've happened to him."

"And you've either blocked it or had it removed from your memory," Anakin guessed. "I'm so sorry."

"And I guess I just, I don't know what to do about it," Toby admitted. "I mean, the chances of me finding him, if he's still out there, are pretty much impossible. But I don't know if I should be like, trying to remember more or just... let it go."

Anakin nodded thoughtfully. "I've always thought it was better to know than to not know," he offered, "but you can't really force yourself to remember."

"It scares me," Toby let out a long breath. "From what little I remember of my mother, she seemed possessed by the voices she heard. What if I remember something that pushes me towards ending up like that?"

"You're here," Anakin offered quietly. "And people who hear voices aren't exactly uncommon here. I'm sure the medical clinic would be more equipped to help should you feel yourself...teetering. And until then, I'm happy to help."
