Anakin had searched DC for a restaurant that his pregnant wife would enjoy and settled on a place that made fried chicken, but in an expensive way.

After all, they didn't leave Juliet with the highly trained, very lethal nanny droid all that often, so going to McDonald's to celebrate Rory's birthday would just not do.

Well, if Anakin was honest, that would wait for the ride home when Rory decided she needed three pies and a shake for an after-dinner snack.

He flipped through the menu and smiled across the table at his wife. "So should we just order one of everything?"

"I'm trying to find stuff I can't have, so we can exclude that from 'everything,'" Rory said as she scanned the menu. "The baby hasn't started telling me what they would like yet, though, so my options are still open."

"Give the chicken livers a skip?" Anakin suggested, making a little face. "Not because they're forbidden, just because ick."

"I think I can just make that a rule for life," Rory agreed, making a face right along with him. "Do you think they'd put bacon on anything I ask for?"

"Sure," Anakin said. "Just tell them you're pregnant and it's your birthday. Ooh, they have dates wrapped in bacon. I see nothing bad there."

"I want bacon wrapped in bacon," Rory decided thoughtfully. "Why doesn't anyone make that?"

"I don't know," Anakin said, frowning, "but they should. Maybe wrapped around some sausage?"

"My list is weird about sausage," she frowned, peering at the menu. "Fried chicken wrapped in bacon. Hmm...."

"Sounds like a heart attack," Anakin teased, "but it's your birthday."

"It's for the baby," Rory told him seriously, nodding.

"Well as long as the baby's happy," he said, smiling back. "How are you feeling today?"

"Kinda icky earlier," she said, shrugging. "Better now. It's sort of just like having a cold."

"Except bacon doesn't help a cold," Anakin offered helpfully.

"It should. I feel that bacon is a highly-underused resource in modern medicine," Rory replied wisely.

"You should bring that up at your next appointment," Anakin advised.

"I'm sure they'd take me seriously," Rory agreed, snorting.

"Tell them you read it on the internet," Anakin replied. "That'll convince them."

"Everything's true on the internet," Rory agreed. "I'm sure they'll take it very seriously then."

"Especially medical advice," Anakin said, nodding. "You should probably tell them you spun around fifteen times and only ate lemons for a week and now you're sure it's another girl."

"Do you want another girl?" Rory wondered, peeking over her menu at him. "Or have a preference at all?"

"I want a baby with all of its fingers and toes," Anakin said. "Other than that, I have no preferences at all. You?"

"A boy for you would be nice, for variety, but two little girls is adorable, too," Rory replied thoughtfully. "What do you think Juliet would want?"
