Anakin was almost grateful for the relative coolness of the air--it stopped the wool he was wearing from being oppressively hot.

After all, if you're having a picnic in Regency-era England, you need to dress the part.

Or so Rory had insisted. Anakin was just hoping to lose the top hat sooner rather than later, even if he was a little excited to be on a date with his wife.

"I like your hat," Rory said, as though reading his narrative, even as she shifted around in her dress. It was airy enough, sure, but she had like four layers on under it. Good lord.

Anakin grinned a little ruefully. "I don't wear hats for just anyone, you know. And you have very fine eyes."

By which he meant "great boobs in that dress." But classier.

"I don't think you're looking at my eyes, Mr. Skywalker," Rory said demurely, shaking her head.

"Maybe not entirely, Mrs. Skywalker," Anakin replied, grinning, "but that dress is quite distracting."

"Empress Josephine was kind of a smart old broad," Rory said in agreement, looking down at her cleavage. "I should dress like this all the time."

"It would certainly leave an impression at job interviews," he teased, spreading a blanket out by a small pond.

"I'd get plenty of jobs," Rory agreed. "Though maybe not for the right reasons."

"And then there would be the inevitable sexual harassment lawsuits," he teased. "I think I prefer the suits."

He had a thing for powerful women. Shhh.

"You just like that they make me look all smart," Rory replied.

"You are all smart," Anakin said, leaning in to kiss her cheek.

"You," she replied, though she was smiling, "are wildly biased."

"Am I not supposed to be?" he asked, wide-eyed.

"No, you are supposed to be very objective," Rory assured him seriously, nodding. "About me and my relative attractiveness and better personal qualities, and also about Juliet's overall genius. Very objective."

"Ohhhh, well in that case, she's the smartest child ever conceived and you are the best wife in the history of the multiverse," Anakin said. "Objectively."
