Sometime in the middle of the night, Alex had once more forced herself to go home, take a long shower, and at least lie down in her bed for one hour.
She didn't sleep. She only kept seeing visions of the nightmares from the arena. But lying in a darkened, quiet room could sometimes at least give you a hint of rest, if not much.
She watched the digits on her clock and switched off the alarm before it had a chance to go off. When she hauled herself out of bed, she was sure she looked as haggard as she felt. She was equally sure she didn't care.
A few cups of tea later, and she was at least presentable. Fresh clothes and toast helped. And then, back to Anakin's office, to check on the children.
