The grief and the horror of the room battered at her shields. Karla knew she wouldn't be able to come back here, not for awhile. At least, not without scrubbing down every last inch of the walls.
For a moment, her mind buzzed with the idea of what Anakin's reaction would be if she asked. Those thoughts felt far away, almost disconnected, from the rest of her. Floaty. She liked the floaty thoughts because they had nothing to do with reality, that she was sitting in an office where she'd just watched one of her friends die, watched her body get picked up to be disposed of like so much garbage.
Floaty thoughts kept her from screaming her throat raw or fleeing the room entirely.
