Anakin's office [all day, all night...]

Anakin thought he'd been prepared to watch the Games, to help his students through such...blatent savagry...but he was fearing that he was getting close to the end of his endurance. Mags, Cecelia at the very beginning (she'd had three children, just like him...), it was all impressed in Anakin's mind, along with the faces of the other tributes as they'd been projected into the sky.

In the fifteen minutes he'd stolen to sleep in his office chair, he'd been haunted by seeing his own dead projected in the same way: Obi-Wan, Padme, Ahsoka, a slew of generals and admirals he'd killed in a rage...the faces had seemed to go on forever and he'd woken in a cold sweat completely unrefreshed.

He took a moment to step out of the room, carefully navigating through sleeping students, and called his wife, his never-fail cure for feeling a little more balanced. Then he ran through a quick Jedi meditation, took a deep breath, squared his shoulders and went back into his office.

Day two was about to begin.

[OOC: For the Hunger Games crew. NFB due to watching violence, death, and extremely icky canon.]

Luke hadn't spent the night, but he was back early to make sure he didn't miss anything today. The break was what he needed to keep calm during all of this, and he was impressed by anybody that managed to stay all night.

Due to the fact that she had work to do back home while all this was going on, Jaina wasn't able to call in till later today. By the time she did so, it was more or less night where she was, so she could watch uninterrupted, and she'd definitely be shielding better today so as not to disturb Zekk.

So little tiny blue Jaina was back for as long as she could be.

Firekeeper had not spent the night, but was back in Anakin's office relatively early, after a cursory check in with the horses at the Gig.

Gabrielle had spent the night, mostly because she'd gotten lost in such a dead heat of working on her scrolls that she'd eventually passed out.

After waking, she slipped out to the restroom long enough to freshen up, then came back and set out fresh ink and parchment for chronicling the new horrors today's broadcast was sure to bring.

Karla had crashed in Anakin's office, making a nest of pillows and blankets for herself. Had she gone back to her room last night, even her special tea wouldn't have been able to help her fall asleep. Here, at least, she could drowse knowing that if someone got hurt again, she would know and be up in instants, making more medication.

Of course, the odds of someone getting hurt badly and not just dying were slim, but she was clinging to the slim possibility because this way she didn't feel completely useless.

She woke up a little before people started showing back up and slipped out to take a hot shower and change. Karla had the sinking feeling that a decent shower was going to be the best part of the whole day.

Alex hadn't spent the night. She had gone back to her apartment in the wee hours for a long, hot shower and the best catnap she could coax her system into.

She was back before dawn, as freshened up as she could hope to be, and with coffee from the Perk and pastries from J,GOB. She wasn't sure anyone would have the stomach for either, but it seemed like it couldn't hurt.

Bod hadn't spent the night but he arrived fairly early, drinking a bottle of water and still mentally preparing himself for what was to come today.

Zoe hadn't spent the night in Anakin's office, but she hadn't slept much either, too busy giving Grace hugs in spite of her squirming protest. Sam hadn't asked her any questions, and she was grateful for that, because she still wasn't sure how to put the things she'd seen into words. Luckily, she'd always been good at silent support, and that seemed good for both the students and the adults who were here.

Wesley had excused himself briefly last night to vomit after the worst of the footage, but he had ended up spending the night. When he looked up to see Katniss reappear on the screen, he guiltily shoved his unused pillow out of his lap and sat up straighter.

No, he hadn't slept.

[identity profile] kestrelswolf.livejournal.com 2011-05-29 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Firekeeper hadn't grown up near saltwater, but between her stays in Bright Bay and Liglim, she'd spent a significant amount of time near the ocean even before Fandom. And it was there that she'd learned that though the salt made it useless for drinking, wounded or ill Beasts would often drag themselves out to the water and immerse themselves in it. It drew the sickness out, they told her.

"The water," she said, feeling only a little foolish since the one person who needed that information would not actually be able to hear her. "She should go in it."

Alex couldn't help letting out a small hiss of breath. She'd never put salt water into an open wound. She didn't want to imagine trying, either.

Luke hadn't expected the deaths of any of the tributes to affect him much, so he was kind of surprised when he felt sadness over the morphling's death. He had known that Peeta was good with words, but seeing him have that affect on another person made him understand a bit more why Katniss wanted him to live. He would be a good leader.

Jaina had come in at this point, luckily at a point where her appearance shouldn't be distracting from anything tense. And to be honest, she was glad she hadn't come in at a major problem, It made her a little more optimistic about things.

She would not have been as optimistic if she'd seen the monkeys.

Luke didn't really know what to think of the Johanna, other than the fact that she reminded him strongly of Clarisse, and he didn't have a clue as to why Haymitch would want Beetee around since he looked half-dead and out of it. One thing he did know was that Wiress made him uncomfortable. Her constant babbling reminded him a bit too much of his mother.

Warren let himself exhale as Katniss realized that they were trapped inside the clock. He didn't feel smart for having realized it yesterday. He just felt... tired. After all they'd seen this weekend, it was difficult to feel anything but.

"Good for you," he murmured, under his breath.

Re: Wiress Stopped Tick-Tocking

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2011-05-29 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Luke's ADHD made it so that Wiress's constant chanting was probably distracting (and, yes, annoying) him more than anybody else in the room. Of course that also meant that he was the first person to notice when she had finally stopped. Personal experience dictated that crazy people just didn't stop babbling, not unless someone else shut them up.

"Oh fuck," Luke said, leaning forward into his chair. "They need to move, right now. They're not alone out there."

If he thought shouting "Look behind you!" would have done anything, he would have done it.

Re: Spinning/Battle

[identity profile] trickydemigod.livejournal.com 2011-05-29 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Annnnnnnnnd this would be one of the rare times where Luke hated being right. He was thankful that Katniss caught on in time to protect herself and Peeta, but hated the fact that they lost people in the fight. It wasn't exactly easy to see Wiress with her throat cut. She had reminded him of his mother in the worst ways.

Those bastards took Katniss's sister. They took her and now they were making her scream.

"Oh no," she moaned. "No, no, nooo. Katniss, no. It's some kind of trap."

But what else could Katniss do? Sit there and let them continue to torture her sister?

Screaming voices, Katniss running into the woods . . .

Gabrielle wasn't a scout. She wasn't as agile or at home in the trees as most of her Amazon sisters were, but one of the conditions of her accepting Terreis's Rite of Caste was that she receive a fast but intensive lesson in the tribe's ways. And one of the Amazon scouts' methods of communicating was to imitate bird calls.

More than that, they used those bird calls as bait sometimes, to lure unsuspecting intruders away from the village --

"Jabberjays!" she burst out, nearly knocking over her inkwell when the realization hit her. "It's not really her sister; the Capitol's using jabberjays to play with their heads!"

Too much. The screams and the pain and the death. The waiting. All of this was just too damn much. And they called it a game.
