Anakin's office [from noon onwards]

Anakin had spent the morning over at the Trooper Station interrogating interrogating his new staff: since he'd worked with various clones before (and was uniquely aware of their more...esoteric programming), he'd spent time with each one individually, asking about their duties at the Trooper Station, their thoughts about Fandom, and what happened if he said "Implement Order 66."

Turned out, nothing, but it was worth checking.

He went over to his office at the school around lunchtime, flipped on the link to Katniss's world (a habit he'd gotten into since she'd left), and was getting ready to write down his impressions about yesterday's class when he realized that he wasn't listening to the usual noises from Panem.

He was tuned into the Reaping. District 9, it looked like. Cursing under his breath, Anakin reached into a desk drawer and began leaving handwavey messages for the list of people Katniss had left for him to talk to.

From his spot behind his desk, he reached out through the Force to close the door. Today's office hours were by invitation only.

[OOC: For those who are watching the Reaping, and NFB.]

Wesley gave a tiny little half-smile at that, mainly because, well, yeah. Stupid question. But it was okay, under the circumstances, and he appreciated it.

"I'm -- managing," he said after a moment of trying to find the right word. "None of this is ideal, of course, but at least we can watch, and..." He swallowed. "Know what's going on."

"And she knows we're watching," Karla said, unsure whether this would be comforting or not. Yet another situation her Black Widow training had left her unprepared for. "Watching without it being entertainment, like the Capitol, and without her having to worry about us, like she does her mother and Prim. And, who knows? Maybe we'll even be able to help."

She groped around for an idea. Wesley struck her as someone who functioned best when he had something to do.

"Do you think we could maybe figure out stuff she might need? I mean, until we see the arena, we can't be certain, but having a premade list handy might help. Katniss mentioned it's cheaper to send stuff earlier in the Games."

Oddly, that was reassuring. He reached out, intending to put a grateful hand on Karla's shoulder or something to that effect, but then thought better of it. Still, he appreciated it.

"Ah -- yes, that would be... nice," he said. Or, you know, useful, which was the same thing. "We should do that."

Karla gave him a small smile. "Anytime you wanted to get together to work on that, I'm probably free," she offered. "I mean, you don't have to wait for me, or anything, but if you wanted company."

But if drawing up a list would help him fall asleep tonight, Karla was happy to let him do it himself.

Wow. So much for not accepting people's help. Karla had just made this infinitely easier to deal with.

"Company... I wouldn't mind company," he replied. "Perhaps Friday? I'll be in the library during the school day, but in the evening, maybe?"

"I don't think I have any plans for Friday," Karla said, her smile flickering again. "Sounds good."

And then she could make sure he ate. That was something, too.

Or, you know, not good, but it sounded like progress, which was what Wesley needed right now.

"Then... I'll see you then."

Just please, Karla, for the love of god, make sure he hate something other than cookies.

She would! She would bring real food, delivered from somewhere else!

...The cookies were for dessert, obviously. And comfort, after she left.

Maybe they could send some to Katniss as a weapon?

"See you then," Karla agreed, reaching out to pat his arm as she wandered off.
