Office hours [all day]

The poster of Farrah Fawcett stared down at Vader as he banged things around in his office.

The Emperor had been in touch ridiculously early that morning.

Now Vader had some contractors to scare as soon as possible. He'd argued that if he didn't hold office hours, young Skywalker might get suspicious.

It had nothing to do with his thought that building a second Death Star was pointless. And that he really didn't want to fly all the way to freaking Endor.

Really.

The door to his office was cracked open.

Today, Rory knew she had a busy day, so she came in the morning after making a quick stop at J,GOB.

"Morning!" she greeted chipperly, holding a small bag.

"How astute of you," Vader said scathingly. "Indeed, the sun did rise today."

"Wow, I thought you retained something from when we taught you Earth customs here. You see, that was a truncated version of, 'Good morning,'" Rory said, her tone pedantic. "I can understand how you might forget your manners, what with being evil and all."

"I never cared for diplomacy," Vader snapped back. "What do you want this time, Miss Gilmore?"

Rory kicked the door shut behind her. "Brought you something."

She pulled out a napkin, and from the bag, produced a flakey croissant, which she set down on his desk. "I know you won't take off the mask with me here, but I thought maybe you could smell it. It's fresh."

Vader stared down at the pastry, flooded with memories of a perfect summer.

It pissed him off.

The croissant careened off the desk and into the trash can.

"This won't work," he snarled.

"Oh, hey, they are kind of aerodynamic," Rory said thoughtfully. "What won't work?"

"Nice poster."

"It was a gift," Vader replied. "She has interesting...hair."

"Really? Most people would be looking at her breasts. But hey, to each their own."

"I don't have hair," Vader said.

Which would imply that he had breasts. Time for damage control...

"She is quite...nubile, yes?"

"Very. Very Aryan. I would not have expected someone of your tastes to get such a thing."

Vader totally misheard Schrodinger. "What does Miss Sun have to do with anything?" he asked sharply.

"Delivery," Rose said brightly, knocking on Vader's door.

"What kind of delivery?" Vader asked suspiciously.

"Forgot already?" Rose said, shaking her head, she raised her hand and showed her a small silver device (http://www.flickr.com/photos/43853467@N00/346244879/). "A not wind musical instrument?"

"I didn't forget," Vader said. "I've just had some...strange gifts recently."

He leaned forward. "How does it work?"

"Understandable," Rose said reasonably and approached him. "Quite easy actually, you just need to be..." she turned the instrument in his direction, just enough to show him and ran her fingers gently on the instrument, "...delicate."

She smiled at him as a soft, musical sound emanated from the instrument. "See?"

"Does it need body heat?" Vader asked a little anxiously.

He didn't have any in his fingers.

Aeryn's sort of made it a habit of heading to Vader's office hours. Which is why she's here again today after her mun got home finally, la. She's also probably seeming about as casual as she ever has in his presence, because she doesn't have a threat to make or any intention of saying anything that could possibly get her Force-choked. Instead she just knocks on the door.

"Come in, Miss Sun."

"Done away with my first name entirely, have we?" she asks, stepping inside.

"Miss Gilmore prefers it this way," Vader replied.

"Her preferences don't necessarily reflect mine," Aeryn tells him.

Vader paused. "I know that," he said. "You don't bring me pastries and demand that I remember prom."

Another pause. "Right?"
