Another Parents' Weekend, another chance to meet people's parents, relatives, friends, random enemies who showed up and the occasional evil twin...which was why Anakin was in his office drinking the largest cup of coffee the Perk sold and trying to look awake and interested in hearing from all of them.

He wasn't, really, but that wasn't polite to admit.

The door was open!

After visiting Blackagar's other... teacher and then promptly flouncing out of that room and into the next, Maximus was in a mood. You could tell it was different by absolutely nothing.

Because he was always a douche.

"You," he said, pointing at Anakin. "Human. What do you teach my brother?"

"Jedi," Anakin corrected immediately. "Who's your brother?"

"Blackagar," Maximus snapped, trying to recall if Jedi were a species of human. "What is a 'Jedi'?"

"A very particular version of human with super powers," Anakin said dryly. "I teach your brother ethics."

"What sort of ethics?" Human ethics? Was it filthy human ethics?

"Theoretical ethics," Anakin replied. "I'm not inflicting my personal galaxy's view upon anyone."

Raven was all a-flail when she rushed into Anakin's office that morning; he'd been on the top of the list of the people she had to warn. Maybe he could help her figure out how to prove this was some sort of trick. She couldn't really have brothers -- her father and Azar had always said she was the only child of Trigon to survive.

"Professor Skywalker," she said urgently. "There is something I must warn you of."

Well that was a really great start to a conversation. He reached up to rub his temple. "If your father is back I'm going to be annoyed."

Raven shook her head. "No, he is not, thank Azar," she said. "But there are three boys here who are claiming to be my brothers."

Anakin blinked. "Did you always have brothers?"

"No!" Raven said vehemently. "I have long known that I was the only child of Trigon to survive. He told me that, Azar told me that -- it has never been a question. But now there are three here, and they claim there are three more."

"Six brothers?" Anakin repeated. "What do they want from you?"

"To come home and be with her family," Jesse said from the doorway, flanked by his brothers.

Yes, they totally weren't creepily stalking their sister at all, really.

Anakin snorted. "You clearly don't know her at all."

"Only because she didn't know what she truly was until yesterday," Jacob said, studying Anakin. "And why we belong together."

They had some idea of Anakin's strength, but Jacob couldn't resist testing it. He pushed with his powers, trying to see if he could ignite lust in him.

Anakin's eyes blazed, but not with lust. "No," he said, staring straight at Jacob.

"I told you to leave the people here alone!" Raven said, glaring at her siblings.

"Aww, we're just having fun, Sis," Jesse said. "It's what we are, after all. It's what you are."

"Mmm, no," Anakin decided. "I wouldn't never use the term 'kind of a jackass' to describe Raven."

"She's one of the Seven Deadly Sins, just like me," Jared growled. "I'm Wrath. We're already acquainted, aren't we?"

"Envy," Jesse said with a smirk.

"Lust," Jacob finished.

"Bored now," Anakin replied, rolling his eyes. "Really, boys? This is your angle?"

"It's not an angle, it's what we are," Jesse said. "The embodiment of sin. Our father's gift to us. Raven just doesn't realize which one she is. Yet."

Anakin suddenly had a really bad feeling about it, but he wasn't to let that show. "Oh, come now," he said. "She took my class where she learned all about the deadly sins and it can only be a process of elimination." He pointed at each in turn: "Wrath, Lust, Envy. Who are the other three brothers?"

"You don't have any guesses?" Jacob snickered. "I think it's kind of obvious myself which one she is."

Anakin was quiet for a moment. "Pride," he said softly.

"Right in one!" Jesse said, golf clapping. "Greed, Sloth, and Gluttony are waiting for us to bring our wayward sis home."

Raven, for her part, looked confused and uncertain, though she couldn't exactly argue. If she was a sin, Pride would fit best.

"They'll be waiting a long time," Anakin replied. "Raven stays where she is."

"We're not going to force her," Jesse shrugged. "The day will come when she'll call for us, her real family. And we'll be waiting."

"And waiting, and waiting and waiting," Anakin told him flatly. "Blood doesn't make you family."

"My family is here," Raven agreed fiercely. "You may be Trigon's spawn as I am, but that does not make us family. I will never join with you."

"That's just your true nature talking, Sis," Jesse laughed.

"That's not pride, that's common sense," Anakin said, "but I can see why you wouldn't be familiar with it."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Jesse said, rolling his eyes. "Be seeing you, Sis. We'll give your other brothers your love."

The brothers turned and left the office, and Raven sank down into a chair in relief. "I have always been envious of those with siblings," she said, "but now I wish I was still an only child."

"That can be arranged," Anakin offered darkly.

"You do not think they can be right, do you?" Raven said in a small voice. "I am not an embodiment of any sort of sin, am I?"

"I don't know," Anakin said quietly, "but I'm not inclined to take their word for it."

[trigons_child]

"I do not think I am overly greedy, nor gluttonous or slothful," Raven said, chewing on her lower lip anxiously. "That does leave only pride. And I am proud of my gifts and what I can do to help others with them."

"But you help others with your gifts," Anakin said. "Somehow I don't think that figures into the grand plan of those three boys."

[trigons_child]

"Six, if what they say is true about the others," Raven said. "They have embraced our father's blood, but their gifts are limited, unlike mine. So far I have only seen them be able to manipulate the emotions related to the particular sin they claim, but if I wished to, I could do any of them, and heal as well."

She'd manipulated anger and affection before; it wouldn't be a stretch to do the same to feelings of jealousy, greed, gluttony, or sloth.

"Pride is sometimes considered the most elemental of all the deadly sins--they radiate from it," Anakin offered, perhaps unhelpfully. "Would you like me to do some reading into this?"

Sometime in the future Raven might have to steal that line and use it while talking to her brothers.

She nodded. "I would appreciate that, yes," she said. "I do not think it is something I should simply ignore."

"I think we both learned that lesson earlier this year," Anakin agreed. "I'll look into it."
