Anakin's office [morning]

Anakin certainly hadn't planned for a Skywalker family outing to the island this morning, but his usual routine of defrosting frozen making pancakes for Juliet and Rory had been interrupted by a comm call...from his office.

He'd listened, unblinking, as a little voice explained quite calmly that since no one had been on the island to pick him up, he was waiting for them in Daddy's office, and not to worry there were lots of interesting things to play with there.

"Christopher?" Anakin called warily as he opened the door.

"Hi Daddy!" Christopher said, peeking up over his father's desk from where he was busily disassembling Anakin's modem. "I'm fixin' stuff."

Anakin winced despite his best efforts. "You sure are," he agreed. "Do you know how all the pieces go back?"

"Oh, my," Rory said, eyes wide as she wandered in behind Anakin with Juliet in her arms.

"Uh oh," Juliet agreed. "Mess."

"'Course, I do, Daddy," Christopher assured him before showing Rory a piece of something. "Look, Mommy!" He peered a little, and added, "Juliet's little again."

"But not as little as last year," Anakin declared, trying to recover his equilibrium.

"Boy," Juliet observed thoughtfully.

"That's your brother, Juliet," Rory said, which just confused Juliet more.

"She's littler than she is at home," Christopher told his parents. "She's a baby. I'm not a baby, though!"

"No one who can do that much damage to a modem that quickly is a baby," Anakin said, smiling. "How old are you? Fifteen?"

Christopher held up five chubby fingers. "I go to school now!"

"Have you learned calculus and astronavigation yet?" Anakin asked.

"...I know all the days of the week," Christopher told him, proud but a little confused.

"Close enough," Anakin laughed. "Are you hungry?"

"Yeah yeah!" Christopher said, bouncing up and knocking over the bits of modem. "Can I have waffles?"

He gave them a suspicious look. "...I don't have to share with Juliet if she's a baby, right?"

"She only eats one," Anakin said, lowering his voice conspiratorially, "but you can have double the syrup."

Anakin would regret this decision.

"...do I gotta drink milk?" he checked. Mommy usually made him.

Anakin nodded gravely. "Yes. That's how you'll get tall."

"Chocklit milk?" he tried.

"Your second glass of milk can be chocolate," Anakin replied.

"How come not alla 'em?" Christopher asked sadly.

"Because if you eat that much sugar all of your teeth will fall right out and you'll look like a Hutt," Anakin, Father of the Year, told him.

Christopher clapped his hands over his mouth. "But I brush! Mommy makes me!"

"And eat carrots?" Anakin checked.

"Sometimes," Christopher hedged in such a way that implied, 'When you make me.'

Anakin leaned in to kiss Christopher on his forehead. "Eat more carrots and we'll see about the chocolate milk thing," he murmured.

Christopher wibbled a little bit. "Does Juliet got to eat carrots?"

"Now that she has teeth, yes," Anakin said.

Christopher cast a suspicious look at Juliet. "Can she eat mine?"

"No," Anakin said firmly, "But good try."
