Darth Vader was back on campus. He'd discovered the gift his boyfriend heterolifemate fellow teacher V had left him.

This only improved the mood he was in. Really.

So he was in his office. Renovating.

Okay, slamming his desk around the room.

[OOC: I'm around most of the day. *gets the popcorn*]

"Shame about that." Rose said and entered cautiously. "Seem to be interesting person to have a conversation with."

"Oh, I'm endlessly interesting," Vader said dryly. "Let me tell you all about my secret pain."

Then he stopped talking.

This was Vader's idea of being hysterically funny.

"You must be a hit at parties," She said drily. "With your sense of humor, you ought to be teaching drama."

Oddly enough, his prickly nature was endearing Rose. She was strange like that.

"Ethics," Vader corrected. "I am Darth Vader."

Rose took-in his outfit. "Oh-kay. Ethics." She tilted her head. "This must be those irony things, isn't it?"

"See, was that so hard being neighbourly? I tell you my name and you tell me yours."

"Irony?" Vader stood there breathing for a moment. "Don't I strike you as incredibly ethical?"

That he pretty much oozed evil seemed to have escaped his notice. Or he was being funny again. It was hard to tell.

"Oh, completely ethical." Rose said in a deadpan. "Very. Clothes give you away immediately as a very ethical person."

"Black is also very slimming," Vader added.

Beat.

"You should try it."

Evil Sith lords have a reputation to uphold, after all.

"I should, one of these days," Rose said, "More partial to red myself."

"But your... hat's the best I've seen yet."

"Helmet," Vader corrected. "It helps me breathe."

That explained the asthmatic breathing sound. "Oh." Also, that would kick-in Rose's compassion gear but he didn't seem the type to accept compassion. So she said instead, "Least its stylish."

"It was a deciding factor in the design."

A laugh riot, that Vader.

"That should always be part of the consideration." She said, solemn.

Rose tried to keep her face straight but you could easily see a smile was trying to fight its way.

"Immediately after 'does this make me look fat?'" Vader said, nodding.

"Or, something similar as, 'does this hair cut give me a double chin?'" Rose suggested.

"It's been a while since I've worried about that," Vader admitted.

"What are you teaching, Ms Tyler?"

"Popular culture," Rose answered, "Didn't know why it was necessary to teach it at first, then I got to know about some of the... quirks of Fandom."

"So you'd be from this time and planet, then," Vader said.

Rose thought about this. "I suppose, from a certain point of view." She frowned. "Wait, what year is this now?"

"2007," Vader replied promptly. "January."

"Ah," Rose said, "Then I'm a bit further in the future."

"How much further?" Vader asked. "Are the beings here still using their ridiculous land-based automobiles?"

"Unfortunately, I'm not that far off from the future, just a a few years in. 2014." Then added, hopefully, "We do have zeppelins though if that's any consolation."

"Not really," Vader said, sounding sulky. "Primitive planet."

If anything, Rose was more amused by this statement.

"Ah, you're one of those." Rose said with a smile, "Hope you don't go around muttering about 'stupid apes'."
