Anakin was running a little late today, having served as a Santa in Aeryn's class.

Even without the suit, he was still hearing Christmas bells everywhere. That, added to being shot this weekend (and thank you so much, creepy, dyed-hair Dean), put him in a truly excellent mood.

The door was open, though.

"That troll was trying to hurt you first," Anakin said. "There's nothing wrong with self-defense."

She frowned a little. "No, I s'pose not. I just...I don't know what to do with this."

"And that's completely understandable," Anakin said gently, trying to catch her eyes. "I just need to do a little research. I don't want to start teaching you the wrong thing."

"Okay," she said hesitantly. "Do you think I should, um...experiment with what I can do? Like, not around other people? I haven't really, um, tried to do it again."

Anakin nodded. "I think that understanding what you can do will stop you from being so frightened of it," he said. "I think people work with powers on the beach sometimes--no one tends to be down there. Would you like me to be there?"

"If you want," she said shyly. "I mean...I'm sure I probably can't hurt you, but...."

"I've been training in this sort of thing most of my life," he said with a tiny smile. "I'll make sure you don't hurt you either."

Which was really what his priority was.

"Unless you'd prefer to work with a Jedi closer to your own age?"
