Skywalker Apartment [late evening]

Homecoming had been without major incident, Anakin's hair had recovered from its day in the dunk tank, and the baby was asleep under the watchful eyes (and weaponry) of the nanny droid.

So Rory and Anakin had lingered over dessert at the restaurant he'd picked to celebrate his wife's birthday (and her ability to get legally served away from Fandom) and were now heading home for presents.

And more cake because Anakin knew Rory very well.

Rory had totally partook of the beverages now appropriate for her age, and while she wasn't drunk by any means, she was definitely tipsy and affectionate.

"She's sleeping, still?" she asked curiously, peeking into Juliet's room.

"Seems like," Anakin said, smiling and peering over Rory's head. "She's all worn out from the brunch this morning."

"Well, she made lots of friends this weekend," she replied, twirling to kiss his jaw.

"Mmm," Anakin said happily, wrapping his hands around Rory's waist. "And did you have a good time?"

"I diiiid," she replied happily. "I met new people."

"Who did you meet?" Anakin asked, leaning down to kiss her cheek.

"Raven, finally," she said, pleased. "And New Tara."

Anakin didn't want to think about Tara tonight--too many uncomfortable memories wrapped up in there--so he smiled down at her instead. "Raven's a sweet girl. I'm glad you finally saw her."

"She liked the muffins!" Rory said delightedly.

"What's not to like about muffins?" Anakin asked, linking his fingers through Rory's and tugging her toward the bedroom. "Do you want your other presents now?"

"Okay!" Rory said happily, tottering along after him. "I think I might like presents even more than muffins."

"And where does cake lie in there?" he asked. "Chocolate cake with mocha icing?"

"Better than muffins, and depends on the presents," she declared, beaming at him.

"There are two of them," Anakin said. "One Juliet helped me to pick out. One she can never, ever, ever know about." He turned pink. "Ever."

Rory wasn't too drunk to not blush, herself, at the implication there. "Ooooh. I want to see the one she helped with, first. The other one sounds distracting."

"I told her that you had enough jewelry," Anakin said, picking a tiny box off of the dresser, "but she insisted."

"She has good taste," Rory said, grinning as she opened the box. "Oh, they're gorgeous! And, okay, you are hilarious."

He grinned back. "I thought you might appreciate it," he said. "Do I get a better thank you than that?"

Rory went onto her toes to chastely kiss his cheek. "Better?"

Brat.

"Brat," Anakin said, laughing at her. "I guess you don't really want your other present."

"Yes I doooo," she said, threading her arms around his neck.

Anakin leaned in for a lingering kiss, then pulled back and held out another present.

Don't ask how long it took Anakin to buy this. Really. Don't. It's embarrassing how much time it took him.

Rory nearly dropped the box once she got it unwrapped.

Instead, she turned bright, bright, bright red and started laughing.

"Should I just go ahead and hide under the bed forever now?" he mumbled.

"Noooo, it's...." She giggled some more. "I've, um, always wanted one. I was always just too embarrassed."
