After picking up Droidhead or whatever its name was, Jaina decided to just check and see if there was anyone in Anakin's office.

"Good, you're human-sized again," she said. "I can complain at you about this in person."

"Complain all you like," Anakin said with a shrug. "It's not going to change the assignment."

[solo_sword]

"With two days to go, I'd hope not. It's just a shame I couldn't make you babysit your fake droid great-grandchild."

[sith_happened]

"Yeah, I'm really broken up over that," Anakin said with a smile. "I'd much rather not be a great-grandfather."

[solo_sword]

"I think you're safe," Jaina said, not exactly volunteering the reason behind that thought process. "Though you are the one who gave me this one, and really I can't thank you enough."

Yes, she was whining when she'd only had the kid for like half an hour total.

"If it serves as a disincentive, I've done my job," Anakin said. "Especially since twins run in the family."

[solo_sword]

Yes, that was a visible shudder that just ran through her. "Yeah, but you gave those to John. And the little time I was around kids so far nearly had me calling my parents to apologize."

"You should," Anakin said. "I didn't give the droids simulated Force powers. Imagine adding that to the general mayhem."

[solo_sword]

When put that way, the possibility of dying young didn't really sound too bad. "Then Winter gets that apology," she said, though she was glad her kid was so far quiet and non-powered. "I don't need to be talked out of one of these, trust me."

"Winter?" Anakin asked curiously.

[solo_sword]

"Mom's best friend for years and years," she explained. "She was my nanny. She's responsible for at least a good third of my upbringing."

Recognition flashed in Anakin's eyes. "Leia's aide in the Senate. White hair?"

[solo_sword]

"That's her," Jaina nodded. And given that Winter's code name wasn't exactly a secret anymore, if not common knowledge, added, "You might have also known her as Targeter."

Anakin's jaw dropped. "That was her?"

[solo_sword]

"Yep. That was a great reaction, by the way."

[sith_happened]

"I don't get surprised very often," Anakin mumbled as his cheeks flushed red.

[solo_sword]

"To hear Aunt Mara tell it, it surprised her too," Jaina conceded. "It's nice to know even you can learn something about the way things were back then."

"As long as Mara didn't know either," Anakin Skywalker, Beacon of Maturity, muttered.

[solo_sword]

Jaina raised an eyebrow at that. "Do you feel enlightened now?"

[sith_happened]

"Yes," Anakin said smugly. "Are you feeling better this week?"

[solo_sword]

"I'm okay," she answered. "Vision's a little better every day, enough that I'm blindfolding myself when doing drills."

Anakin smiled proudly to hear that. "How many remotes?"

[solo_sword]

"Just two. I keep turning the settings higher, though. I need to get up to three," she said. It wasn't just a I'd like to. She really felt she had to.

Anakin nodded. "When you're ready, I tricked up a program in the Danger Shop for lightsaber combat."

[solo_sword]

She perked up immediately, almost jostling Droidface. "And I didn't know about this before?"
