Anakin was putting together a list of potential gifts for Rory.

But that would hardly do wonders for his reputation as a badass. If anyone came in, he'd look like he was rereading the notes he'd made on last week's Ethics assignment as drum-intensive music from Endor played in the background.

The door was open.

River didn't have any classes today, and although she didn't have a particular reason it seemed like a nice idea to stop by and visit Anakin. She stopped in the doorway. "Busy?"

"Not for you," Anakin replied, smiling.

River entered the room quietly, blinking a little at the choice of music. "Not from here?" she asked.

"It's from a moon called Endor," Anakin said. "The native population are called Ewoks." He smiled as he tilted his head towards the music. "They're pretty good, huh?"

"Ewoks?" River spun around. "They like dancing?" She laughed, the music making her want to move.

After her conversation with Luke the other day, Jaina had decided that she needed to suck it up and pay her grandfather a visit. Of course, any opening she had vanished from her head in favor of "Endor? Really?" when she heard the music.

"Sure," Anakin said, smiling. "You can't tell that the music is made by meter tall teddy bears."

"They love dancing," Anakin replied, "or at least they did the last time I visited one of their villages. I was just as tall as they were. It was a long time ago."

"I never figured you for a fan of Ewok music," she said, leaning against the doorway.

"The music expresses that well." River took a few dance steps, spinning around again before sinking down in a chair. "Small people?"

"More like giant teddy bears," Anakin replied. "They come to about waist height on me."

"I'm a fan of a lot of music," Anakin said. "I prefer the instrumentals from home."

River opened her mouth, then a wide grin spread on her face. "Dancing giant teddybears? Can I go there?" The image the description created in her mind was quite surreal.

"I never knew that," she said, trying to get rid of the image of Darth Vader sitting around, all menacing, listening to this same music. "I'm leaning new things, I guess."

Something uncertain flickered in Anakin's eyes. "I'd have to see," he said. "It's on the furthest side of my galaxy from here--no easy trip."

Anakin could guess the track of her thoughts. "It was a bit of the reason I never wanted to be disturbed in my meditation pod," he admitted. "This didn't exactly fit with my reputation."

"I bet. You'd have to off a higher-ranking officer just to maintain an image," she said, and while she was aware of his habit of killing off Imperials on a whim, there wasn't a criticism to it this time. "So how are you doing?"

She nodded, a little curious. "Don't know much about your galaxy," she said, then grinned, deciding to turn the subject into something lighter at still important. "Apart from space ship models."

Anakin shrugged his shoulders. "Fine," he said. "I spent some time up north with Rory's family. It reminded me that we don't corner the market on crazy."

Anakin grinned. "Then you know all of the important parts," he said. "My galaxy has been in turmoil for most of my life," he continued. "It's not exactly somewhere I choose to take students into."

Well, part of the reason, anyway.

Images of reavers and Alliance ships appeared in River's mind, and although the dangers where Anakin came from probably took a different shape, she understood. "Still like the music," she said.

"It's still home," he said softly, then gave River an image of the Ewoks dancing in their tree houses with a tiny blond Padawan.

Closing her eyes for a moment, River laughed softly, wishing she could have been there. Then she opened her eyes. "You got to meet my brother," she said.

"I did," Anakin said, nodding. "He's a good man."

River just smiled in reply. He was, and she was happy that they had met. "Shouldn't keep you busy," she said, slipping out of the chair, then added with a giggle: "Unless you want to dance with me?"
