Anakin was in his office with Juliet today. He was (futiley) trying to get her to color quietly.

She was throwing Play-doh at his walls.

Anakin was reminding himself (A LOT) that mindwhammying a toddler was a Bad Idea.

Probably.

...he was getting less convinced of that as the day wore on.

Jaye, horrible influence that she was, stopped by with two cups of coffee from the Perk.

Then she took one look at Juliet and said, "I didn't bring baby coffee." They had those now!

"Oh, frak me, she doesn't need any more energy," Anakin groaned, resting his head on his desk. "I swear she's mainlining pixie stix while I'm not watching."

"You mean kids don't naturally have sugar for blood?" she asked, setting a coffee near his head.

[sith_happened]

"Only when they've spent a weekend in the clinic eating their way through the lollipops," he teased.

[fates_jaye]

"Kids can't help it if they're right there," she said, because hi, she'd done that. She'd also spent a weekend in high school holed up in the basement and twitching from sugar overload, though, so. "If they really need a Band-Aid, and they're offered one, what else can they do?"

"Band-Aid?" Juliet echoed, perking up.

[fates_jaye]

"I don't have any," said Jaye, who had no idea what to do with kids. And she'd had some for certain weekends.

Juliet's lip wobbled. "No?"

"It's fine," Anakin said. "Would you like some apple?"

Juliet gave him an "are you high?" look. "Cookie?"

"No cookie."

Welcome to Anakin's life now, Jaye.

"You should take her to the clinic to get some Band-Aids," Jaye said helpfully.

[sith_happened]

"Now!" Juliet demanded, took a look at her father's face, and tacked on a "please?"

"After I finish talking with Miss Jaye," Anakin told her. "Keep playing with your dough."

He sighed. "How's your class going?"

"Eh, we watch movies. They've finally stopped complaining about not learning philosophy, and I think they've accepted their fate." Good for them. "How's Ethics?"

[sith_happened]

"Almost time for droid babies," Anakin said gleefully.

[fates_jaye]

"I want to record everything," she said immediately.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "I'm tempted to make them go get photos taken with their children just because of the headache that is."

[fates_jaye]

"You should! I mean, they should get the whole experience." And it would be hilarious.

[sith_happened]

And slightly creepy! Which, let's face it, had stopped occurring to Anakin.

"Family portraits," Anakin said, nodding. "In matching outfits."

It could be its own category on Awkward Family Photos.

"I knew there was a reason I liked you," Jaye grinned. "Can there be stupid hats?"

"I think it would be unethical not to," Anakin declared.

[fates_jaye]

"I'm so glad I came back here," Jaye said happily. "No one does this back home. It's very sad."

[sith_happened]

"It is," Anakin agreed.

Or sane. One of those.

"Okay, help me bullshit why they need to take photos other than 'because it'll be hilarious.'"

"Well of course you need a mandatory, stressful assignment for Ethics students to be able to really gauge how they would respond in the situation rather than just passing it off on their partner for a week and saying they learned a lot," she reasoned.

[sith_happened]

"Oooh, well played," he said with a grin. "I like it."

[fates_jaye]

"I've gotten good at that sort of reasoning," she said. "I should probably worry."

[sith_happened]

"Not at all," Anakin assured her. "It makes you an excellent teacher for this school."

[fates_jaye]

"That's the scariest thing I ever heard," Jaye said honestly. "...Keen."

[sith_happened]

"I miss the Tick," Anakin said, smiling fondly. "I haven't heard that word in years."

[fates_jaye]

"You know I can't look at spoons like a normal person? I just can't," she agreed.

Keep in mind that Jaye was soooo not a normal person.

"SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!" Juliet replied helpfully.

"Oh my god, she has sidekick genes," Jaye realized.
